These License Terms describe the licensing model that applies to SecureHold WP. They cover the rights provided by the GPL source code license and the conditions associated with SecureHold WP commercial services, including activations, downloads, updates and support.
Please read these terms alongside the Terms of Use and the Privacy Policy.
Two-layer licensing model
SecureHold WP operates under two distinct layers of licensing. These two layers coexist and do not conflict.
The first layer is the GPL source code license. The plugin code is distributed under the GNU General Public License, version 2 or later (GPL-2.0-or-later). This license grants anyone who receives the software the right to use, copy, modify and redistribute the source code under the terms of the GPL.
The second layer is the SecureHold WP commercial license. This governs access to SecureHold WP services: official plugin downloads, account access, license activations, plugin updates and support. These services are separate from the code itself and are available to customers with an active subscription on the plan they have purchased.
The commercial license does not replace, restrict or modify the rights granted by the GPL on the source code. Where a question concerns source code rights, the GPL governs.
GPL source code license
The source code of SecureHold WP is released under the GNU General Public License, version 2 or later. A copy of this license is available at https://www.gnu.org/licenses/gpl-2.0.html.
Under the GPL, anyone who receives a copy of the software may:
- Use the software for any purpose
- Study and modify the source code
- Redistribute copies of the software to others
- Distribute modified versions under the terms of the GPL
SecureHold WP does not impose conditions on these rights beyond what the GPL itself requires. If you have obtained a copy of the plugin code, whether through your account or another legitimate source, your rights to that code are governed by the GPL.
SecureHold WP commercial license
The SecureHold WP commercial license governs access to the services provided in connection with paid and free plans. It is a separate agreement from the GPL and covers services that are not part of the source code itself.
These services include:
- Access to official plugin download files from your customer account
- A license key linked to your account and plan
- Site activations up to the limit defined by your plan
- Plugin updates available through your account during an active subscription
- Email support according to the priority level of your plan
- Access to Pro features on sites where your license is active and verified
Access to these services requires a SecureHold WP customer account and, for paid services, an active or trialing subscription. The commercial license is personal to the purchaser and is not transferable without prior written agreement.
What the commercial license includes
Depending on your plan, the commercial license grants access to some or all of the following, subject to the conditions described in these License Terms:
- Official ZIP download files for SecureHold WP Pro, available from your account
- A license key linked to your account and subscription
- Site activations up to the number permitted by your plan
- Plugin updates through your account while your subscription is active
- Email support, with priority response for Pro and Agency plan customers
- Access to Pro features on sites where your license is validated
The Free plan includes core plugin functionality and one site activation. It does not include access to official Pro download files or priority support.
Access to each item listed above may be suspended or removed if your subscription lapses, your license is revoked, or the conditions described in these terms are not met.
Plans and activation limits
The following plans are currently available. Activation limits apply per license key.
- Free: 1 site activation, core plugin features, no Pro download access
- PRO 1 Site: 1 site activation, full Pro features, download access
- Business 5 Sites: 5 site activations, full Pro features, download access
- Agency 25 Sites: 25 site activations, full Pro features, download access
All Pro and Agency plans include access to the same set of Pro features. The activation limit is the primary distinction between plans.
Plan availability, pricing and feature details are described on the pricing page and may change. The activation limits above reflect current plan configurations.
License keys
Each paid subscription is associated with one license key linked to your account. The license key is used to activate SecureHold WP on your sites and to verify your eligibility for downloads, updates and Pro features.
Your license key:
- Is tied to your account and active subscription
- Must not be shared with persons or organisations outside of the entity that purchased the license
- Must not be published publicly or distributed to third parties
- Is non-transferable to another account without prior written agreement
If you believe your license key has been compromised or used without your authorisation, contact support as soon as possible.
Site activations
An activation registers a WordPress site installation with your license key. Each active site uses one slot from your plan's activation limit.
When you deactivate SecureHold WP on a site, the activation slot is released and becomes available for use on another site. The release takes effect when deactivation is processed by the licensing system.
If you reach the maximum number of activations allowed by your plan, new activation requests will be refused until an existing activation is released or your plan is upgraded.
Activations are tracked by site URL and a persistent instance identifier stored on the WordPress site. If a site with the same URL and instance identifier re-activates, the existing activation record is updated rather than counted as a new slot.
Staging and development sites
Staging, development and local sites may count toward your activation limit unless your plan or the account interface explicitly states otherwise.
Currently, no automatic distinction is made between production and non-production domains. Activations on staging environments, local development installations and live production sites all consume activation slots in the same way.
If you need to manage activations across production and staging environments within the constraints of your plan, you may deactivate on one site to free a slot before activating on another.
Downloads and updates
Official SecureHold WP Pro download files are available to customers with an active Pro or Agency license. Each download request is verified at the time it is made.
To download, the following conditions must be met at the time of the request:
- Your account must be logged in
- Your license key must be linked to your account
- Your plan must be Pro or Agency
- Your Stripe subscription must be in an active or trialing state
Plugin updates are made available through your account under the same conditions as downloads. No automatic update delivery to your WordPress site is guaranteed.
Copies of the plugin already downloaded and present on your server remain available regardless of your subscription status. Those copies are governed by the GPL for all purposes relating to the source code.
Remote license validation
The SecureHold WP Pro plugin installed on your WordPress site may contact secureholdwp.com periodically to validate your license. This check is used to determine whether Pro features remain active on that site.
During a routine license check, the following data is sent to the licensing server:
- Your license key
- The URL of the site making the request
- A persistent instance identifier unique to that site installation
The instance identifier is generated when the plugin is first activated and stored in the site's WordPress options. No payment data or personal customer data is sent during routine license checks.
For full details on how this data is collected, stored and used, see the Privacy Policy.
Subscription and billing
SecureHold WP paid plans use Stripe for payment processing and subscription management. By purchasing a plan, you authorise recurring billing at the interval selected at checkout.
Your subscription renews automatically at the end of each billing period. You can manage, update or cancel your subscription at any time through the Stripe Billing Portal, accessible from your account area.
Payment is processed by Stripe under your own agreement with Stripe. SecureHold WP does not store your full card number or payment credentials.
Your access to commercial services is tied to your subscription status. An active or trialing subscription provides full access. A past due, unpaid or paused subscription may result in suspended access to downloads and Pro features until the billing issue is resolved.
Cancellation and expiration
You may cancel your subscription at any time through the Stripe Billing Portal. Cancellation takes effect at the end of your current billing period unless otherwise indicated.
When a subscription is cancelled or expires, the following changes apply:
- Your license status is updated to reflect the change
- Access to official download files from your account is no longer available
- Priority support access is no longer available
- Pro features on sites using the license may cease to function after the next remote license validation
Copies of the plugin previously downloaded remain on your server. The source code in those copies is governed by the GPL. Core plugin functionality that does not depend on a Pro license may continue to operate.
No refund is automatically issued on cancellation. For information on refund eligibility, see the Refund Policy.
Support access
Email support is available at support@secureholdwp.com. Pro and Agency plan customers receive priority handling. Support for Free plan customers is provided on a best-effort basis.
Support does not include guaranteed response times or service level commitments. Support is focused on questions about SecureHold WP configuration, licensing and account access. It does not extend to custom development, third-party plugin integrations outside the scope of SecureHold WP, or debugging issues unrelated to the plugin.
Do not include sensitive credentials in support emails, including payment card numbers, Stripe secret keys, WordPress admin passwords or server credentials.
Agencies and client sites
Pro and Agency plan customers may install and configure SecureHold WP on sites owned or operated by their clients, within the activation limit of their plan.
Each client site consumes one activation slot. Activation limits apply across all sites on the license, regardless of whether those sites belong to the licensee or to clients.
The license key must not be shared directly with end clients or third parties. The licensee is responsible for managing all activations within their account.
Redistribution of official SecureHold WP download files to clients or third parties as a standalone product is not permitted under the standard commercial license.
White-labeling the plugin, removing SecureHold WP branding, or reselling access to SecureHold WP services as a product requires a separate written agreement. Contact us to discuss arrangements outside the scope of the standard license.
Prohibited use
The following uses are not permitted under the SecureHold WP commercial license:
- Sharing a license key with persons or organisations outside of the entity that purchased it
- Redistributing official SecureHold WP download files commercially, or packaging them as part of another product, without prior written agreement
- Using official downloads to create a product that competes directly with SecureHold WP
- Exceeding the site activation limit of your plan without upgrading
- Circumventing or attempting to circumvent the licensing system
These restrictions apply to the commercial services and official download files. They do not restrict the rights granted by the GPL on the source code.
Redistribution, forks and downloads
The source code of SecureHold WP is available under the GPL and may be freely copied, modified and redistributed under the terms of that license. You may fork the plugin, publish modified versions, or redistribute it to others under the GPL without requiring permission from SecureHold WP.
Official SecureHold WP download files obtained from your account are governed by both the GPL for the source code and these License Terms for the download service and account access. You may use those files as the GPL permits, but you may not redistribute them as official SecureHold WP releases or sell access to them without prior written agreement.
If you publish a fork or modified version of SecureHold WP, please make clear that it is not an official SecureHold WP release and is not supported by SecureHold WP.
Trademarks and branding
The name "SecureHold WP" and associated logos and branding are not covered by the GPL. The GPL grants rights to the source code only, not to the name, logo or marketing materials.
You may refer to SecureHold WP by name when accurately describing the software you are using or configuring. You may not use the SecureHold WP name or logo in a way that implies endorsement, affiliation or sponsorship by SecureHold WP, or in the name or branding of a product that competes with SecureHold WP.
You may not remove or obscure SecureHold WP attribution from the plugin interface or documentation without prior written agreement.
SecureHold WP is an independent product. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or in partnership with Stripe, WooCommerce or Automattic.
No compatibility guarantee
SecureHold WP is designed to work with WordPress, WooCommerce and the WooCommerce Stripe Gateway. No guarantee is made that any specific version of SecureHold WP is compatible with any specific version of WordPress, WooCommerce, the Stripe plugin, Stripe APIs, PHP or any other software or hosting environment.
Plugin updates may change feature behavior or system requirements. You are responsible for testing SecureHold WP in a staging or development environment before applying updates to a production site.
SecureHold WP is provided as is, without warranties of any kind beyond those required by applicable law. See the Terms of Use for the full disclaimer of warranties.
Changes to License Terms
SecureHold WP may update these License Terms at any time. Changes will be published on this page with an updated date.
Continued use of SecureHold WP services after a change is published constitutes acceptance of the revised terms. For significant changes, we may send a notification to the email address associated with your account.
