Is SecureHold a fit for your setup?

Good fit

  • Your transaction becomes a WooCommerce order
  • You use WooCommerce Stripe Gateway
  • You need a refundable security deposit
  • The hold can cover the relevant rental, stay or event period
  • You want the deposit separated from the main payment
  • You want release or capture from WooCommerce

Probably not the right fit

  • Your booking never enters WooCommerce
  • You need a months-long authorization hold
  • You only take deposits through a physical terminal
  • You need a complete rental management system
  • You need a PMS or fleet management system
  • You expect SecureHold to provide insurance or damage protection

Security deposit holds are time-limited by card networks. SecureHold is best suited to workflows where the hold can cover the relevant rental, stay or event period.

Other short-duration WooCommerce use cases

SecureHold can also fit other WooCommerce businesses when the transaction uses Stripe, the deposit is refundable and the hold can remain valid for the full workflow.

SecureHold solutions FAQ

SecureHold fits WooCommerce businesses that take a refundable security deposit through Stripe, where the deposit can be held as a card authorization rather than charged upfront. This covers equipment rental, event rental, small hotels and guesthouses, and car rental, along with other short-duration bookings that meet the same criteria.

Yes. SecureHold manages the deposit hold from a WooCommerce order, so your booking, rental or event needs to produce an order that WooCommerce and SecureHold can work with.

No. SecureHold adds the Stripe security deposit hold workflow to WooCommerce. It does not replace a booking engine, rental management system, PMS, fleet management software or insurance product.

There is no universal compatibility guarantee. Booking and rental plugins store dates, statuses and order data differently, so how well SecureHold fits a specific plugin depends on that plugin's setup. Test your exact configuration in Stripe Test Mode before going live.

Authorization windows are set by card networks and the transaction context, not by SecureHold, so there is no fixed duration we can promise. SecureHold works best when the hold can be created close enough to the rental, stay or event to remain active through it.

Yes. The free plugin supports a single global deposit amount. SecureHold Pro adds product and category rules, so different products or categories can carry different deposit amounts.

Yes. SecureHold supports a single partial capture up to the authorized amount, and the remaining amount is released. Whether a specific charge is justified depends on your own policies.

Yes. SecureHold works with Stripe Test Mode, so you can run a complete order through your setup, including hold creation, release and capture, before using it with real customers.

SecureHold's standard authorization hold is not suitable if the required period is longer than the authorization window can cover. Extended authorization workflows are not currently part of SecureHold.
Test before you go live

Find your workflow. Test the hold. Then go live.

Start with Stripe Test Mode, run a complete order through your actual WooCommerce setup, and verify that the deposit timing fits your business before using SecureHold with customers.

SecureHold WP is an independent WooCommerce extension that uses the Stripe API. Not affiliated with, certified by or endorsed by Stripe, Inc. or Automattic Inc. Authorization windows are defined by the card networks and payment method, not by SecureHold. A card hold reduces the customer's available credit or available funds while it is active. SecureHold does not replace a booking engine, rental management system, PMS, fleet management software or insurance product, and does not guarantee fund availability. Compatibility with a specific booking or rental plugin should be tested in Stripe Test Mode before production.
